NAD+

NAD+: An essential cellular coenzyme rather than a peptide.

What is it?

An essential cellular coenzyme rather than a peptide.

How it is studied

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide participates in oxidation-reduction reactions and serves as a substrate for cellular-maintenance enzymes.

What the evidence says

Studies of NAD+ precursors, oral supplementation, and intravenous NAD+ examine different interventions. Findings from one cannot be substituted for another.

What remains uncertain

Being essential to metabolism does not establish that administering more improves health or lifespan. This reagent is not a validated anti-aging treatment, and safety cannot be inferred from its natural presence in cells.
